A hospital can become a vast crime scene, where corruption, exploitation, abuse, irregularities and even murder take place unnoticed. The numbers reveal that approximately 800 women die per day, or one woman dies every two minutes. Obstetric haemorrhage accounts for 27% of global figures, of which two-thirds is due to postpartum haemorrhage. Most of these deaths are preventable, but sadly, they were allowed to happen due to a series of failures, such as irresponsibility, negligence, and delays in a place that was supposed to keep women safe. This was someone’s mother, someone’s daughter, someone’s wife. No one was held accountable, even though a huge crime, murder, was committed here. The truth often stays hidden within the hospital walls. The public never hears it.

My most profound belief is that knowledge is a form of protection. What if those women had known the right questions to ask when they chose their clinic? What if their husband had known what to demand when they saw the first signs of trouble? The outcome could have been entirely different.
